  1. To evaluate the RSA amplitude used as an index of cardiac vagal activity, we calculated when the RA was greater than 3. The period and amplitude values averaged 2.8 ± 0.2 s and 4.2 ± 1.1 bpm for the six subjects, respectively. The amplitude differed among individuals; the range extended from 2.7 to 5.4 bpm
